World Distribution: Guatemala to Bolivia-Brazil
Habitat: Lower mid-mountain forests; canopy and edges of forests.
LPWG Sightings: Common May to October; scarce or almost absent November to April.
Special Features: Flares purple feathers behind when excited; uses La Paz Waterfall Gardens areas after breeding in lower areas.
Field Marks: Males and females are large and brownish with a
straight bill.
