World Distribution: Costa Rica to West Panama
Habitat: High mountain forests.
LPWG Sightings: Scarce at feeders, usually from February to July.
Special Features: Fiery throat is usually not visible unless flying toward observer.
Field Marks: The dark blue chest is sometimes more evident than
the yellow-red throat; The blue forehead is accented by a white dot behind
the eye
