Size: 5” (13 cm); the female is slightly smaller.
World Distribution: Costa Rica to Ecuador
Habitat: Wet mid-mountain forests at the edges, middle under-story and into canopy
LPWG Sightings: Common at feeders year round
Special Features: Prefers to perch while feeding
Field Marks: Male is green with a prominent white post-ocular
eyespot. Female has a green and white spotted underside.
