Size: Male, 4” (10 cm); Female, 3” (7.5 cm).
World Distribution: Costa Rica to Ecuador
Habitat: Mid-elevation wet forests.
LPWG Sightings: Uncommon to common at feeders year round.
Special Features: Feeds with tail cocked at nearly right angles to the body.
Field Marks: The small sized bird has white horizontal stripes
across the rump. The male has a longer tail than the female.
