World Distribution: South Nicaragua to West Panama

Habitat: Mid-mountain forests. Prefers the canopy but uses edges and mixed farmland.

LPWG Sightings: Common at feeders year round

Special Features: Breathtaking throat and forehead

Field Marks: Male has bright purple throat with blue-green forehead. Female has an orange-brown underside. All Mountain-gems (male and female alike) have a white post-ocular eye stripe.
