World Distribution: Costa Rica to West Panama
Habitat: Foothills and mid-elevations of the Caribbean slope.
LPWG Sightings: Scarce to uncommon at feeders.
Special Features: Its limited habitat.
Field Marks: A pale lilac throat accents the white belly of the
male. The female does not have the lilac marking. All Mountain-gems (male
and female alike) have a white post-ocular eye stripe.
